The word test has an interesting history, it's roots sunken into the ancient practice of assaying precious metals. It traces back to the Latin "testum," meaning "earthen pot" (in which gold and silver were melted to ascertain their quality). It's interesting how a specific meaning like that gradually erodes (or does it evolve?) to mean a more general sense of the term. Or is it that back then--that's all our world was essentially comprised of? Was it not the value based on gold and silver that has allowed our monetary system to transform, by an immense alchemical process spanning generations, our natural world into the teeming, vibrant, technological wonder it is today? This message concludes our test.
I’m a novelist and student of the imagination living in Honolulu. Fantasies, visions, hallucinations or whatever we call those irrational powers that illuminate our inner life fascinate me. I’m particularly intrigued by the creative intelligence that scripts our dreams. And I love carrying this soulful energy outside my mind, into the one form that most precisely defines who we are: story.
